Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 24, 2026
Auto Scout ("Auto Scout", "we", "us") is a used-car deal-finding app published by Fridays Group. We built Auto Scout to need as little of your information as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You don't create an account — there's no name, email, or password to give us.
- We don't sell your data, ever.
- We collect only what's needed to run your searches, send you alerts, and manage your subscription.
Information we collect
- A device identifier. When you open Auto Scout, the app generates a random identifier for your device. We use it to keep your saved searches and subscription tied to your device. It is not your name and does not identify you personally.
- Your search preferences. The makes, price range, mileage, location radius and other criteria you set so we can hunt for the right cars for you.
- Notification token. If you enable alerts, Apple provides us a push token so we can send you deal and price-drop notifications. You can turn notifications off any time in iOS Settings.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription and which plan, so we can unlock the right features. Payments are handled entirely by Apple — we never see your card or billing details.
- Basic diagnostics. Standard, non-identifying technical data (such as app version and crash information) to keep the app working.
What we do NOT collect
- Your name, email address, phone number, or physical address.
- Your contacts, photos, or precise GPS location.
- Payment or credit-card information (handled by Apple).
Listing data
Auto Scout surfaces vehicle listings that are publicly posted on third-party marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji and AutoTrader. We display this public information to help you evaluate deals and link you to the original listing. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those platforms.
How we use your information
- To run your saved searches and show you matching listings and deal scores.
- To send the alerts you've asked for (new matches, price drops).
- To provide and manage your subscription.
- To diagnose problems and improve the app.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to operate the app:
- Apple — App Store delivery, in-app purchases, and push notification delivery.
- RevenueCat — to manage subscriptions and entitlements. RevenueCat receives your device identifier and subscription status, not personal details.
These providers handle data only on our behalf and under their own privacy commitments.
Data retention
We keep your searches and preferences while you use the app. If you delete the app and stop using the service, the associated data is removed or de-identified within a reasonable period. You can also contact us to request deletion at any time.
Your choices
- Turn notifications on or off in iOS Settings.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
- Request deletion of your data by emailing us (below).
Children
Auto Scout is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll post the revised version here and update the date above.
